For Imprint Art Fair 2026, I’m bringing together a selection of screenprinted works that moves between bold, densely layered compositions and quieter explorations of landscape and place.
The presentation moves between densely worked compositions built from photographic imagery, enlarged black halftones, layering and geometric interruption, and quieter works in which fragments of landscape and architecture are allowed more space. Here, softer tonal shifts, muted colour and partially recognisable forms create a more contemplative quality.
Alongside these are more colourful layered works, where photographic imagery is broken apart and rebuilt through blocks of colour, halftones and repetition.
Across the selection, I’m interested in the point at which a photographic image begins to move away from recognition and towards abstraction. Cropping, enlargement, halftone, layering and repetition allow the image to shift between a recognisable sense of place and something more ambiguous, where pattern, texture and surface become as important as the original subject.
The presentation will also include works from Landscapes from a train, my ongoing series of small screenprints made from photographs taken on journeys through the English landscape. These intimate works sit at the quieter end of the selection, retaining a sense of landscape while reducing it to fleeting impressions of light, distance and movement.
For collectors, the fair offers an opportunity to see the work away from the screen and in its physical form — to experience the scale, texture, density of the halftone and subtle variations within the printed surface.
