‘Landscapes from a train’
This series of small screenprinted works on paper explores landscape as a site of quiet observation and reflection.
Devoid of human presence, the series is concerned with atmosphere rather than description, aiming to capture a fleeting sense or feeling - capturing the transient beauty in our surroundings.
The works engage with the tradition of English landscape painting while employing the visual language of commercial print through the use of enlarged halftones.
Though intimate in scale, the images draw the viewer in, yet the closer one looks the more the image begins to dissolve, creating a quiet push and pull between clarity and abstraction.
All work is hand printed in South London on 280gsm Arches BFK Rives paper, 21x28cm.
